Production process -
BARS&PROFILES
Aurubis FOXROD – oxygen-free wire rod from our own production – is friction-heated in a rotating process, converted into a plastic state by shear and compressive stresses, then formed into the customer-specified geometry by means of pressing tools from the pressing chamber. The bars and profiles are cooled and coiled after they leave the tool.
In many cases, the bars and profiles are then cut to the appropriate lengths and subjected to a straightening and drawing process to achieve the tightest customer tolerances. This is also where the final mechanical properties and surface qualities are configured.
The continuous pressing process, with its consistent process parameters, produces a uniform, recrystallized microstructure that has consistent mechanical properties.
